Newspapers of the Late 1800s: Local News & Gossip
Donna Dennison, Genealogy Dept. Head, Shelby County Public Library, portrays Gabby as she reads the local newspapers from the late 1800s. What stories will she share? What have the locals been up to? Join us for an evening of fun & history as we kick off our 2025 events! This event is free & open to the public; donations accepted.

Stories & Symbolism in Cemeteries
Tour the Grover Center’s exhibit about Shelby County cemeteries. Then, Sarah Richardt, Grover Center Executive Director, will highlight the stories & symbolism of gravestones as we showcase the cemeteries of Brandywine & Moral Townships of Shelby County. This event is free & open to the public; donations accepted.
Grover Center Museum, 52 W Broadway, ShelbyvilleNancy VanArendonk, President of the Franklin Township Historical Society, will give a presentation on early transportation in central Indiana, including the railroads that changed our communities. This event is free & open to the public; donations accepted.

Fairland Walking Tours
Support the Fairland Volunteer Fire Dept. Fish Fry. Then, visit the Fairland Historical Society tent. Tours: June 13: 5:30 & 6:30 p.m.; June 14: noon, 1, 3:30, 4:30, 5:30 & 6:30 p.m.
Tours will start at the tent. Walking tours are free; donations accepted. Tours may be cancelled due to weather.

Preserving Family Heirlooms
Tamara Hemmerlein, Director, Local History Services, Indiana Historical Society, will share best practices for preserving treasured family heirlooms. The event is free & open to the public.

Hoosier Basketball History
After a brief meeting of the Joseph Boggs Society, the Fairland Historical Society & Joseph Boggs Society will co-host a program celebrating Hoosier Basketball History. Noah Dahlquist, Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame, will share Indiana basketball history & discuss the Hall of Fame museum. Then, we want YOU to participate by sharing YOUR Boggstown, Fairland, Moral, & Triton basketball memories. This event is free & open to the public; donations accepted.
